it's wednesday, september 1st -- september 12th. happening right now. this is hillary clinton speaking about the death of chris stevens. >> i asked chris to be our envoy to the rebel opposition. he arrived on a cargo ship in the port of -- of benghazi. he risked his life to stop a tyrant and then gave his life to help build a better libya. the word needs more chris stevenses. i spoke with his sister -- chris stevens. i spoke with his sister, ann, this morning and told her he will be a hero by many nations. shawn smith was an air force veteran. he spent ten years as an information management officer in the state department. he was posted at the hague and

was in libya on a brief, temporary assignment. he was a husband to his rife, heather, with whom i spoke this moving -- morning. he was a father to two young children, samantha and nathan. they will grow up proud of their father for the service he gave to our country, the service that took us toback and finally to benghazi. the mission that drew them to libya is both noble and necessary and we and the people of libya honor their memory by carrying it forward. this is not easy. today, many americans are asking, indeed, i asked myself, how could this happen?

how could this happen in a country we helped liberate in a city we helped save from destruction? this question reflects just how complicated and at times how confounding the world can be. but we must be clear-eyed, even in our grief. this was an attack by a small and savage group, not the people or government of libya. everywhere chris and his team went in libya in, in a country scarred by war and tyranny, they were hailed by friends and partners and when the attack came yesterday, libyans stood and fought to defend our post.

some were wounded. libyans carried chris' body to the hospital and they helped rescue and lead other americans to safety. and last night, when i spoke with the president of libya, he strongly condemned the violence and pledged every effort to protect our people and pursue those responsible. the friendship between our countries, born out of shared struggle, will not be another casualty of this attack. a free and stable libya is still in america's interest and security. and we will not turn our back on that nor will we rest until those responsible for these attacks are found and brought to justice. we are working closely with the libyan authorities to move

swiftly and surely. we are also working with partners around the world to safeguard other american ambassadors, consulates and citizens. there will be more time later to reflect. but today we have work to do. there is no higher higher priority than pro-- no higher priority than protecting the men and women who serve us. some have thought to justify this vicious behavior along with the protest that took place at our embassy in cairo as well as inflammatory material on the internet. america's commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. but let me be clear -- there's no justification for this. none.

violence like this is no way to honor religion or faith and as long as there are those who would take innocent life in the name of god, the world will never know a true and lasting peace. it especially difficult that this -- it is especially difficult that it happened on 9/11. it's an anniversary that means a great deal to all americans. every year on that day, we are reminded that our work is not yet finished, that the job of putting an end to violent extremelyism and building -- extremism and building a safe world continues. but september 11th means even more than that. it's a day where we remember thousands of heroes. the bonds that connect all americans wherever we are on

this earth and the values that see us through every storm. and now it is a day on which we will remember shawn, chris, and their colleagues. may god bless them and may god bless the thousands of americans working in every corner of the world who make this country the greatest force for peace, prosperity and progress and a force that's always stood for human dignity, the greatest force the world has ever known and may god continue to bless the united states of america. thank you. >> you've been listening live to secretary of state, hillary clinton, speaking there in washington, talking about the attacks, the deadly attacks a at the embassy in libya where four americans were killed,

including our u.s. ambassador to libya, chris stevens, who has bay area ties. that's a picture of him there. she says he will be remembered as a hero by many nations. she said this was an attack by a small and savage grew, not the government of libya. she said there were a lot of libya who helped the americans, taking them to the hospital. she also said the -- clinton said she has spoken to the interim president of libya. he's apologized and condemned this violence. clinton says a free and stable libya is still in their interest. they will not not -- they will not rest until those responsible for this are brought to justice and she also pointed out this happened on september 11th. we're going to continue to follow this story here throughout the morning on ktvu "mornings on 2" and in developing news in about 35 minutes, president obama will comment on the attacks that killed the four americans in

libya. as i mentioned, chris stevens, a bay area native, is among the dead. ktvu's alex savidge joins us live from uc berkeley and has been talking to a former colleague of stevens. alex, what did he have to say? >> reporter: well, the former colleague said one of the best and brightest at the state department. he grew up here in northern california. went to college here at uc berkeley. he also got his law degree from uc hastings law in san francisco. according to the white house, all were killed in the attack on the us consulate in bengmazi. it was an angry group shooting employees and setting the group on fire. this group was angry about a viral video made by a man from southern california and that group thinks that video mocs

their muhammed prophet. chris stevens had been working as a diplomat to libya since 2007 and this morning, i talked to one of his former colleagues at the state department. >> chris went to libya when things were far more unsettled than they are now before gadhafi -- before the transition had taken place. he's a gutsy guy. he will do his job and do it with a big smile. >> reporter: and stevens was the career foreign service member, an expert on the middle east who spoke both arabic and french. a short time ago, i received the dean from the uc hastings school of law, he e-mailed me a statement about -- he e-mailed me a statement about his death. and he said he was performing the highest role a lawyer can be called upon to perform. and again, hillary clinton, in

her words, said that embassy chris stevens, a bay area native, gave his life to build a better america. alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. in other news, after months of rumors in just a couple of hours from right now, apple is expected to unveil its new iphone. ktvu's claudine wong is in san francisco with more on the details and the excitement that's building. good morning, claudine. >> reporter: that's right, dave. a lot of rumors, a lot of buzz out here. the next generation, the i-5 phone, and what ke -- the iphone 5. and what can be different. they are talking about faster downloads, a different screen and a different connector. you can see the apple folks out there. easy to recognize pause they are always dressed in black. setting up for the long lines.

things have really picked up within the last couple of minutes of them getting things ready out here along howard street. this announcement at 10:00 this morning. we are expecting to hear from apple's ceo tim cook who is expected to come out and give us the nitty-gritty at what it will entail. if you believe the online report, already demand for this iphone is very high. maybe the highest it's been for any iphone release. we'll have to wait to see on that. what else could they talk about today? there's the mini ipad. we do not expect to hear about that today as we do about the iphone shuffle and nanos. they will be talking about different versions of that. obviously a lot of hype around something like this, apple has a big chunk of the market when you talk about smartphones an tablets you can see the media

hype surrounding this. this street is absolutely packed. there's no parking along here because all media trucks are filling up each and every space. we wait for this announcement set to get underway at 10:00 a.m. claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, claudine. 7:12. let's check in with sal. sal, i'm jute curious, is there gonna be -- i'm just curious, is there gonna be traffic impacted by this? >> third and howard, gonna be a little bit bit -- a little bit crowded there. although they don't have any streets closed. somebody asked me that on twitter. the best way to go get down there is public transportation. b.a.r.t. is a good way, paul street. let's take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. it's backed up all the way to the macarthur maze. it's about a 20-minute delay with no major problems gets

onto the bridge. we've's also looking at the -- we're also looking at the commute in oakland. traffic looking pretty good. southbound 6 0, by the way, i just -- 680, by the way, there was an accident at the stone valley exit on the shoulder. 2 0 is getting a little bit of -- 280 is getting a little bit of slowing as well. let's go to steve. all right. temperatures today, very close to what we had yesterday. there's just not a lot of difference here. the upper air pattern is changing for the middle of the country. today, i think a little bit cooler for a few. inland temperatures come down a little bit unless you are inland far enough, and then it's warm and hot. it does look warm into friday but then cooler by sunday. tropical clouds continue to be

blowing up over the sierra nevada. for us, only subtle changes. low clouds increasing. i mean, yesterday, they were very shallow and very thin off the sonoma coast. all the way down to santa cruz. an onshore breeze is there. 50s, everyone is close. about 53 to 57 of the it doesn't matter. san jose even santa rosa and out towards fairfield, concord and livermore. west-southwest 18. trying to pick up a little bit. napa west at 3. fog starting to show up. i know napa, vallejo, also parts in san jose. tropical clouds will stay east and south. you can see the leading edge of a pattern change there. the system is building up in the gulf of mexico. the question for us is will we get a little bit of an yore shore breeze or will it stay warm inland or fog on the coast? usually, by this time of year, the fog is ready pack up and go out for winter vacation. that's not the case.

it are -- it will be warmer. today, quiet. very quiet. temperatures, very close to what we've had the last couple of days. it's hot up to ukiah. santa rosa, 79. a lot more clouds. kentfield, 78. 67 alameda, berkeley, 70. livermore, 86. santa cruz one of the few that will get close to 70 degrees. the rest within the 60s. 70s to near 80. a little bit warmer inland. maybe saturday but with your weekend in view, it does look cooler. 7:16. what's being called secret construction at the white house we're told is wrapping you up. but we're still not sure what was built. >> for two years, crews have been working behind a large green fence right near the west wing. officially, the workers have been upgrading the white house

utilities but there's also speck place something really big was being built underground. no comment from the white house and more work is due to begin on the north lawn. a lot of investors have high hopes and the federal -- that the federal reserve will announce a third round of bond purchases tomorrow when it ends a two-day policy meeting. that may trigger borrowing as well as spending. investors say the feds may feel compelled to do something because the economy is slow -- the unemployment rate is so slow. 7:17. they just got back from a five- week break but lawmakers are getting ready leave town again. political reporter jamie dupree joins us via skype now from washington, d.c. to explain when congress could adjourn and the big issues lawmakers will be leaving on the table. >> reporter: yeah, the big issues they will be leaving, pretty much every single thing you can imagine will be left on

the table. it looks like about the only thing they are gonna do is to approve a stop budget. the congress has not completed its budget bills on time since 1994 and to the best of my research, only three times in about the last 40 years have they done that. so they have to come up with a temporary plan to keep the government running. we have everything from what? the debt situation to what to do with the -- about the income tax rates that expire at the end of the year. a whole host of measures and none of that will be worked on by next week. if they do get out of town by next week, they usually stay until october. >> do you think the situation in libya where four were killed might change their minds? >> reporter: no, i don't think anything is gonna change their mind right now. what te want to do, get home,

stump for votes and try to make sure -- blah they want to do -- what they want to do, get home, stump for votes and -- the situation is, you look back historicrily. i've been around. i remember back when different parties held these in the reagan administration. we were age to get a lot stuff done. we've got a rally going on outside of the capitol just outside. a bunch of farm groups and farmers demanding action. the farm bill is stuck and seemingly noing -- going nowhere. no bill to help the postal office -- service. i could run down a laundry list. it's got gonna get down before the election. >> there's gonna be serious consequences because moody's is crediting to lower the u.s.

the apartment building with details and one of the rescuers out there. >> reporter: a quadriplegic was trapped inside the first floor apartment building. luckily, crews were able to get him out. the fire appears to have broken out on the outside. >> there is a lot of damage out there. the challenge there in these types of buildings, we had fire in the attic already, even though there was heavy fire on the first floor. it took some work but we took care of it. >> reporter: luckily, no one was hurt but there's quite a

bit of damage to the home. so residents will not be allowed back inside. the red cross is helping those affected find a temporary place to stay. no cause yet as to what caused this fire. we're told there were -- were some residents inside. that's part of this investigation. you can see that the team is getting ready to go inside. you can see the damage there. they had to bust out the windows. i'm tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. a man is in the hospital after gating beaten with a flashlight near golden gate park. it happened around 11:00 p.m. on 41st avenue and fulton street near ocean beach.

the victim was in an argument with another man who then clubbed him with a flashlight. the victim is in stable condition this morning with nonlife-threatening injuries. the suspect was arrested on assault charges. new information about a robbery of a 7/11 in milpitas where a night store clerk was killed. police released this photo. this is one of the three suspects. you can clearly see his face. the other suspects, their faces are covered up. police say they robbed and shot and killed the clerk there. 7/11 is offering a $10,000 reward leading to an arrest and conviction. and police in san rafael want your help this morning. they are trying to identify and armed suspect at an armed robbery at a -- at the shell station on 4th street late last month.

police describe him as african- american, about 5'7, with a slender build. was -- 5'7" with a slender build. he had dark jeans. if you have any information, call police. moses camen is facing murder charges in the death of his adoptive parents. he was shown in the interrogation tell -- interrogation video telling them he killed them because he didn't want to be suspended from school. he said he felt sad while doing it. that hearing will continue today. students at city college of san francisco shut down last night's school board meeting. [chanting] >> they are angry that the

board voted to bring in a state adviser to help oversee the school's finances. the city is at risk of bankruptcy and losing its accreditation. there are two big issues

with the school board -- teacher perform pans evaluation and -- performance evaluation and allowing those teachers in chicago to get their jobs back. they've been on the picket line since monday. some 400,000 students are let without class. i want to check in with sal. there is a big problem happening in san francisco. >> that's right. northbound 280 at the ocean geneva exit. a ruck is partially off the exit -- a truck is partially off the exit. a truck hit a tree. traffic will be slowing down on

mountains. travis is a little stronger today. i think we cool down. when concord buchanan get as west wind, that's when en-- that's when i saw it will be cooler. the season building here, that's gonna create a very fall- like system in the country. for us, it might be more of a seattle/portland warp -- warmup. fog, sun, nice. a little breezy at times. upper 80s to near 90s. there's some huge temperature swings up in mendocino county and lake county starting up in the middle 40s and ending up in the 90s.

60s, 70s and 80s here. a little warmer starting tomorrow for inland temperatures. we'll carry that into friday and saturday. it looks like another cooldown right back on sunday. for the first time in nearly a week, oakland as pitcher brandon mccar city resting at his home after a linedrive baseball hit him in the head. he was discharged from a san francisco hospital. he underwent emergency brain surgery to relieve swelling. he released a statement to fans and teammates saying he realizes it's time like this he's grateful to have everyone.

breaking news. president obama is speaking now about the situation in libya. >> we hold the families of these four individuals in our thoughts and prayers. we're working with the government of libya to secure

to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people. since our founding, the united states has been a nation that respects all faiths. we reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. but there's absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. none. the world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal acts. already, many libyans have joined us in doing so. this attack will not break the bonds between the united states and the libya. libyan security personnel fought back against the attackers alongside americans. libyans helped some of our diplomats' fine safety and carried ambassador chris stevens' to the hospital where he we tragically learned he had

died. it's especially tragic he died in the city that he helped to save. at the height of the libyan -- to save at the height of the libyan revelation. he led with characteristic resolve and skill and built partnerships and help thed to build a new libya. when the gadhafi regime came to and, chris was there to serve as our ambassador to the new libya and porked -- work the tirelessly to support this young democracy and i think both secretary clinton and i relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there. he was a role model to all who worked with him and to the young diplomats who aspired to walk in his footsteps. along with his colleagues, chris died in a country that's still striving to emerge from the recent experience of war and today the loss of these

four americans is fresh but our memories of them linger on. i have no doubt that their legacy will live on far from the shores and in the hearts of those who love them at home. of course, yesterday, was already a painful day for our nation as we parked the -- marked the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. we mourned those lost that die. i -- day. i visited the troops of the graves in afghanistan and iraq at the hallow grounds at the artington cemetery and had the opportunity to say thank you to some of our soldiers at walter reed and then last night we learned the news of this attack in benghazi. as americans, let us never, ever forget our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it.

our country is only as strong as the character of our people and those who represent us around the globe. no acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values we stand for. today we mourn for more americans who represent the very best of the united states of america. we will not waver in our commitment to see this terrible act will be -- those responsible will be brought to justice. these four americans stood up for freedom and human dignity. they should give every american great pride in the country they

heavy heavily on kris' knowledge on this topic. we'll have more on him and hear from one of his classmates. we'll continue to follow the breakdown and the aftermath of the attack that -- of the attack that happened. 7:48. new this morning, palo alto is being hilt with more home -- hit with more home burglaries and residents are being warned. officers are concentrating their efforts in neighborhoods that are most hit like this one, the crescent park neighborhood. they've had two burglaries -- had four of them last month -- had four last month. you may not notice the extra patrols out here. here is a look at how the problem has spiked this year. you can see on the right of

this bar graph. it shows 151 burglaries between january and september 10th this year. that's an almost 65% increase from last year. >> you come home and you need to look at somebody possibly already in there or what's happening during this time that's gone. our street has become -- and you see somebody is leaving. you know he just left. so why is somebody else coming out of the house. >> this is an alarming increase. but police say it's easy to protect yourself and your home. the majority of cases could have been prevented by closing doors and windows as well as locking your side gates. live in palo alto, lorraine blanky ktvu channel 2 blanco -- lorraine blanco, ktvu channel 2 news. more information is coming out about the gunman who killed a chp officer.

court documents obtain taped -- obtained show that computers and cash was seesed from the home of -- cash from sized of the man who killed officer lundstrom. a private service will be held for officer lundstrom in vacaville. kenyan lundstrom's kidney and pancreas went to a 29-year-old woman in the bay area. another went to the woman who is 52 who had been on the waits -- on the waiting list for ten years. 7:51. a missing teenager from walnut creek has been found safe. the family member who may face

criminal charges. taking a taxi on the san francisco bay. the return 75 years in the making.

7:54. a teenaged girl reported missing from walnut creek has been found hiding with her mother. larissa huntsman was last seen leaving the high school and was found living in concord with her mother who does not have custody of her. there's no explanation as to why. police say huntsman was missing

voluntarily an her mother is facing -- and her mother is facing charges for possibly assisting her. and coming soon, a new way to get across the bay. it's a water taxi for the general public. san francisco port commission gave the approval yesterday and pending the final contract, it could actually begin service october 1st. the hop on, hop off boat service will be running on a regular schedule. it will be shuffling passengers between the hi street fishing hare bore, pier 59. >> that would be a nice way to

travel. some people still have to take the roads. let's check in with sal. still some problems. we had a truck crashed. it's blocking the northbound lanes of geneva. this crash is gonna be a pretty big deal. northbound 280 at geneva avenue. 280 is backing up into daly city. it's a serious injury crash. northbound 208 at geneva avenue. the -- 280 at geneva avenue. the only alternative i have for you is 101. i still think 101 is better unless you can get on the freeway at geneva. let's take a look at the commute on northbound 280 coming up to the commute there. there are no major problems in san jose. and at the bay bridge toll plaza, that traffic here is backed up all the way to the macarthur maze. let's go to steve. >> a lot of low clouds out

there. a pretty good fog bank. usually september we're about ready say goodbye to am some of that fog. inland temperatures come down a little bit. temperatures up in the mountains are in the 30s. things are changing here. low clouds increasing. definitely on the coast. subtle changes, though, maybe a slight decrease in the inland temperatures. it's right there, mendocino coast all the way down to -- you a wait down to santa cruz. a little bit stronger of a sea breeze. a possible south wind. a lot more fog and -- i think santa rosa comes down about 5 degrees compared to yesterday. really high pressure building up. the gulf of alaska is the only kind of a leading edge. it's a quiet pattern. if it does, it -- we will see how it works itself out for us.

for us, not much changing here. 60s, 70s, 80s. it had be warmer inland. thursday, friday, saturday. i don't think much change by the coast and then a cooldown. you watched president obama live here on ktvu just minutes ago talking about four americans targeted in a dadly attack in libya. among them a powerful diplomat with ties from the bay area. i didn't know strawberries where in seasshh'sght now. no no no no no no.. rosco ..no, no, no...

u.s. ambassador, chris stevens, a bay area native, was killed in the attacks yesterday in libya. residents have live where chris stevens earned his undergraduate degree. here's more. >> reporter: i called to -- i talked to friends here this morning. he grew up right here in northern california. he. just a short time ago, we found video talking about his time at cal. >> growing up in california, i didn't know much about the arab world and then after graduating from the university of california at berkeley, i traveled to north africa as a peace corps volunteer. i worked in -- >> reporter: this video was made to introduce ambassador stevens to the libyan people. stevens received a degree from

uc hastings law after leaving call. he had been working as a us diplomat to libya since 2007. he was an envoy to the rebels who overthrew moammar gadhafi last year. i talked to some people who said he's the best and the brightest there. >> now i'm excised to -- excited to return to libya, building a solid relationship between the united states and libya to help you achieve your goals. >> three other employees were killed in the attacks in benghazi. stevens was a career foreign service member. he spoke both era back and french. i -- arabic and french.

i received an e-mail from the dean of the college and he talked about the huge loss that his death is for the people who knew him at safings -- at hastings college. in egypt, outrage over the controversial film also triggered violence at the u.s. embassy there. protesters climbed the embassy calls, they ripped down the american flag and replaced it with an islamic banner. embassy staff had already been evacuated ahead of that protest. and there are more details on that controversial two-hour movie that was filmed here in california last year by an israeli american who lives here in california. he tells "the wall street journal" he raised $5 million from about 100 jewish donors to pay for the movie. the film attacks the prophet muhammad, portraying him as a

fill land -- philanderer and a fraud. he blamed lack of security and the protesters for the violence. in two hour, apple is expected to unveil its new iphone. claudine wong is in san francisco where excitement about the big announce is growing. good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning. everybody wants to know if all of the rupeer about the new iphone 5 are gonna be true. they are talking -- about a bigger screen, a div connector where you charge it and plug it into your iphone. we'll see this morning if it's all going to be true? this is the yerba buena center for the arts. you can see the press. this all gets underway at 10:00 this morning and obviously -- a lot of hype surrounding what's going on here.

8:14. new this morning, in pakistan, more than 300 people were killed in two factory fires. that death toll is still rises. it happened yesterday in -- rising. it happened yesterday in two major cities. a fire at a shoe factory in lahore killed two people. in the city of karachi, a fire killed 89 people -- 289 people. back in this country, an hour-long car chase through downtown los angeles ended with a shootout between police and the carjacking suspect. it start -- it started after the suspect in a white honda crashed into a car yesterday evening. police shot and wounded that man but he's expected to survive. no police were hurt. but several bullets hit a

patrol car. 8:15. happening now -- the reno air races start today and qualifying is actually underway. this comes one year after the crash of a vintage plane killed ten spectators and the pilot determined the crash was caused by loose screws. now, the ntsb has put new safety measures in place to avoid a similar incident. brian hick ski live in reno with more on those new regulations. >> reporter: good morning. many were surprised -- you can see some planes out there. qualifying and practicing this morning out there on the race course. the planes go by us right now. you can see some of them out there reeling out on the course. but out here on the finish-line -- there they go. you get a few of -- you get a view of them.

emotions ran high during a vallejo city council meeting last night following severalchs. >> i -- several officer- involved shootings. >> i want justice for me, not just for me, but for everyone. tenants rescued from a burning fire. tara moriarty has more. tara? >> reporter: yeah, they don't know definitively what sparked the fire. as soon as firefighters arrived this morning, people who live inside the blue victorian told them that a quadriplegic was trapped inside the unit. the flames, 15 people were forced out of the four-plex. it took more than two dozen firefighters an hour to squelch the flames. >> some of the firefighters evacuated the people out, others pulled -- it was on the first and second floor. >> it was lit up pretty well in the back. you can definitely see the flames all the way up to the roof, to the top.

>> now luckily no one was hurt. there's quite a bit of damage. residents are not being allowed back inside. the red cross is helping those affected find a temporary police to stay. 8:34. authorities in santa cruz county out there searching for two inmates would walked away from a minimum security jail in unincorporated watsonville. brian martin and another man have been missing since yesterday morning. after escaping, officials say the two men burglarized a house in watsonville and stole a car, a blue, 1995 honda civic. license plate number 2 bwe 696. veries say those men were waiting -- investigators say they were waiting to be sentenced on drug and theft charges. we have new details about the chevron refinery fire. federal investigators say the balls of a pipe that triggered

last month's fire were dangerously thin. the contra costa times reports investigators found parts of the pipe were 1/16th of an inch. that's down from an original thickness of 5/16ths. investigators are searching for the cause of the corrosion and why its with not replaced during a 2011 inspection. 8:3. another twist in the miscon-- 8:36. another twist in the case of ross mirkarimi. yesterday, he asked the ethics commission to delay handing the case to the board of supervisors until after the november election. he argued it would relieve political pressure on the five supervisors who are up for relooks. however, the commission did not rule on the request as mira

burglaries in the past month and a half and a half. half-- month and a half. >> sometimes the burglars will park a van and looking like they are working, and they will make it looks like they are doing legitimate business inside and then they will place the property inside the van and drive away. >> reporter: so she says make sure you know when neighbors are getting work done. the easiest step to take, lock the windows, keep the windows locked and close and -- locked and closed. and also remember the side streets. they are just trying doors and windows. it's a crime of opportunity in a majority of these cases.

someone out of their money. a warrant has been issued for this man. police say this man and an unnamed woman approached the victim in the parking lot in late july, offering a percentage of their lottery winnings in exchange for money to cash the fake lot -- lottery vict. -- lottery ticket. here's his picture. if you know where he is, contact danville police. a middle school teacher is on paid leave now after two students were hurt during a science experiment. the students were 8th graders at elk grove. two chemicals reacted and splashed on them during an experiment. school officials say those students suffered minor first- degree burns as well as irritated eyes the teacher will stay on leave during the investigation.
